Experience Overview

This two-week guided tour traverses the most majestic terrain of Canada before dipping into the U.S. Start in Vancouver, where the famous totem poles in the lush Stanley Park are worth of a photo — or 10. Cruise across the serene, mirror-like waters of Maligne Lake, watching as the reflection of the Canadian Rockies wave in the vessel’s wake. Enjoy a tour of Glacier Skywalk, a glass walkway above the Sunwapta Valley, where you will see waterfalls and wildlife. Explore the rugged wonder of Banff National Park on a helicopter or gondola ride. In Washington, enjoy an artisanal lunch paired with local wines. And look for flying fish at Seattle’s Pike Place Market, where fishmongers at the world-famous farmers market are apt to toss fresh filets from stand to stand.

I think moving to a new hotel every night is quite taxing. Perhaps having several nights in each park would be better. Also the itinerary was poorly written and difficult to understand. I think that each trip should be rated according to activity level. There were many stairs along the way that were quite steep.

It was my first experience with Insight Vacations, and I don't know if the other tour directors have the same performance level as Ben. Both my mother and I were happy with the services rendered during our holiday. 2 nights of the accommodation are without air conditioning. It can be very warm if you're assigned to the rooms facing the west (Sunsetting side during the summer time). Remember to bring sunglasses, sunblock to avoid sunburn. Last but not least, to bring along a water bottle as water is no provided.

The guide Ben and driver Ed were excellent. Ben was very prepared for any contingency and Ed's driving ability exceptional. Ben was perfect for the job and I especially liked the itinerary displayed on the screen for the next day which we all photographed. Itinerary was really interesting except last two days going through Montana and Washington State. Banff was great and Glacier Lakes.

Generally, the director was very attentive and entertaining. I would've liked more narrative on places, culture, etc. and a bit more advance detail on activities and timing. Some issues with bathroom plumbing in hotels. We can appreciate the effort devoted to sustainable practices such as no plastic water bottles or paper info sheets. However, the work arounds seem ad hoc. It covers a lot of ground, almost full circle from the Pacific coast (Vancouver) to the Rockies (Banff) and back to the coast (Seattle). This means long bus rides and many one-night stays. However, the Rockies are breath-taking, when the weather cooperates. This was our second trip to the Rockies, and the first was cloudy. We missed out on awesome views. Some hotels were great, but most were ordinary or rather rustic, such as the two park service venues in Glacier National. Food was OK, and many meals (almost all lunches) were on your own.

The last two days of tour should be improved. Spokane was not a good choice as a place to visit.

We didn't deal with customer service directly. We made our arrangements through a local travel agent. We wanted to leave the tour early but Insight would not adjust the cost of the trip for us. We didn't use the last 2 nights of accommodations & did not participate in the touring in Seattle & the farewell dinner. The trip fulfilled all of our expectations. The sights & scenery were beautiful.

Wonderful tour manger (Dave) brillant driver(rick) wes well planned and hotels were excellent. It would have been nice if we all wore a badge with our name on so it was easier to remember each other. Perfect only one thing would have been nice to stop in one of the old cowboy towns.

The trip was what I expected. Loved some of the hotels but was disappointed with the ones in the National Park. Some people got nice rooms and other not so nice. Got to see many great sites.

It was somewhat difficult trying to talk to someone. Most everything had to be done online. Trip itinerary was very good. Right amount if time in each stop. A couple of the hotels were not up to Insight's normal standards but we understand because the towns were very small.

The trip went well. The guide and bus driver were outstanding. We went to interesting places where facts were explained to us and time given to explore on our own. The tour was somewhat ambitious but it gave us an opportunity to see more of the Canadian Rockies.

Thomas Lavelle   -  Traveled, September 2023

Poor quality of dine around experiences throughout trip, especially Victoria Hotel and the lack of realistic dining options in both Whitefish and Lake McDonald where we went hungry. Banff and Jasper superb! However, Glacier National Ppark and Seattle probably not worth all the time spent travelling and the need to cross the border (twice for us). Better if it focussed on Canada. alone.

Arthur Goetz  -  Traveled, September 2023

Bsically good but our tour guide was a little too casual, eg giving us information at the last minute and sometimes it changed at the last minute. Also one day there was confusion regarding getting our luggage out, and he came riding in on his bicycle at the last minute. Should haveended two days earlier--too much time on the bus. without much to see.
