Experience Overview

With impressive architecture and some of the best scenery in Europe, the Dalmatian Coast is a destination to rival any. So spend a relaxed week taking in the best of this striking coastal region. We start by exploring the UNESCO-listed cities of Split and nearby Trogir, before sampling island life on beautiful Korcula. We complete our trip with three nights in Dubrovnik, possibly the best preserved Renaissance town in the world, with a jumble of narrow streets and red-tiled roofs tucked tightly within the city walls.

If you have any queries about the difficulty of the trip please do not hesitate to contact us. This is a relaxed itinerary focusing on sightseeing and exploring. There is a fair amount of walking around towns and cities, plus a couple of gentle, picturesque walks around two of the islands (some paths are rocky, so pack good shoes). The walks are suitable for anyone with reasonable fitness.

Spending Money
Allow €45 per day for simple lunches and dinners, consisting of a soup, main course and salad. It is possible to spend a lot more, depending on what you choose to eat. The bus into Dubrovnik town centre is not included. Please allow €8 (€2 per journey). The card also gives you discounts at some attractions and restaurants. Visit www.dubrovnikcard.com for more details. Your leader can assist you in getting one of these. Optional excursions On Day 5, there is the opportunity to walk around the Ston Walls for approximately €10 and the saltworks for approximately €4. On Day 7, there is the opportunity to visit Lokrum Island, a return boat ticket is approximately €27. Alternatively, the Dubrovnik Cable Car is approximately €15 one-way or €27 round-trip.
Tipping
Our local staff are paid well and fairly for their work. Tipping is at your discretion, but many clients wish to tip their leaders and driver at the end of the trip. We suggest €20-€25 per client for the guide and €7-€13 for the driver. Most groups prefer to present the money to the leader at the end of the week with two separate envelopes (one for the leader and one for the driver). This is completely at your own discretion and to be used as a guideline only. We also work with two local city guides and a mountain guide on this tour.

Accommodation

Well-located hotels in Trogir, Korcula and Dubrovnik
On this cultural trip in Croatia, we normally stay in two- and three-star hotels. Our accommodations are well-located for our adventures and close to a variety of restaurants, allowing you to indulge in the local cuisine. Below are the hotels we typically use. Trogir: Villa Fontana (night 1) This 15-bedroom hotel has a prime location in the UNESCO-listed old town of Trogir, a five-minute walk from the Church of Saint Barbara and Park Eks Fanfogna. The rooms are modern and clean with free-to-use toiletries. Korcula: Hotel Borik (nights 2-4)  For our three nights in Korcula, we stay in a family-run hotel in the quaint fishing village of Lumbarda. Be sure to pack your swimming costume, as there is a pool you can enjoy at the end of the day. It’s open seasonally, which may mean it’s closed for early and late season departures; thankfully, there’s a pebble beach 655ft (200m) from the hotel if you’re keen to swim. Dubrovnik: Hotel Splendid (nights 5-7)  Our final nights of the trip are spent at the aptly named Hotel Splendid. The highlight may well be the hotel beach, where you can enjoy a refresher at the beach bar with views of Uvala Bay and, with good timing and a bit of luck, a beautiful sunset. There’s also a beachside restaurant serving traditional Dalmatian dishes. Worth knowing  Additional accommodation can be booked, subject to availability, at our hotels in Trogir or Dubrovnik, either before or after the trip. Prices are available from your sales representative. Some hotels we use don’t have lifts.  On rare occasions in Trogir, we may need to split the group between several small hotels. All hotels are of equal quality and are situated within 165ft (50m) of each other. If you opt for the single supplement, please note that in some hotels, this may mean having a single bed, rather than double. If you would like to upgrade to a double bedded room this is subject to availability at an extra charge.

Itinerary

1
Day 1: Start Split Airport

The adventure starts our hotel in the UNESCO-listed town of Trogir, a 10-minute drive from Split Airport. We’ll be staying in the atmospheric old walled part of town. Accommodation: Villa Fontana (or similar)

2
Day 2: Explore Trogir; transfer to Split, free time in Split before a ferry ride to Korcula

We look around Trogir in the early morning before a short transfer to Split, another Unesco-listed city. There will be free time in the beautiful old centre before we catch a catamaran in the late afternoon to Korcula island (approximately 2hr to 2hr 30min). The medieval walled town here, reputedly the birthplace of Marco Polo, is often described as a mini-Dubrovnik. Like the larger city, it is a warren of small lanes and alleys: a great place to explore and a photographer's paradise. After, we take a short transfer to the village of Lumbarda, where our hotel is situated. Accommodation: Hotel Borik (or similar)

3
Day 3: Circular walk around Lumbarda village and wine tasting

It's time to stretch our legs and roam the surrounding area of Lumbarda. We walk through vineyards and olive groves and admire beautiful beaches, where we can stop for a drink or a quick swim. We also visit the renowned Grk winery to sample local wines. In the evening, we transfer to Korcula town for dinner. Accommodation: Hotel Borik (or similar)

4
Day 4: Travel by boat to Mljet Island; walk to the peak of Montokuc for panoramic views

After breakfast, we transfer to Korcula in time for the catamaran to Mljet Island, whose national park status has ensured limited development. The island is a tranquil place to walk, cloaked in forest, and dotted with tiny hamlets. Our goal today is the peak of Montokuc (840ft/256m), which offers panoramic views of the beautiful Dalmatian Coast, and to enjoy a picnic lunch on the island, before returning to our Korcula hotel. The path on the way up to Montokuc is rocky, good walking shoes are required to walk this route. Those who do not wish to walk up Montokuc can take a flat circular walk around the lake, have a swim and enjoy a drink overlooking the water. If the catamaran cannot operate due to bad weather, there are alternative excursions, or we will stay on Korcula island and visit Vela Spilja, one of the most important prehistoric archaeological sites in Europe. Accommodation: Hotel Borik (or similar)

5
Day 5: Ferry to mainland; visit Ston en route to Dubrovnik

After breakfast, we transfer to the port and take a 15-minute ferry ride to the Peninsula Peljesac. Upon arrival, we drive along a scenic mountain road with views of the coast and vineyards. We stop at a farm and enjoy a local olive and produce tasting just next to the old town of Ston. In Ston, we recommend walking up the magnificent old walls that overlook the town – the view from the top is fantastic. The town is also a seafood hotspot, the mussels and oysters here are among the best in the country. After, we transfer about 37mi (60km) to Dubrovnik where we have the rest of the day to relax. In the evening, we can go into the old town for dinner and a wander. Accommodation: Hotel Splendid (or similar)

6
Day 6: Dubrovnik city tour

We enjoy a full day in the remarkable old city of Dubrovnik, which includes visits to the Rector's Palace and the Franciscan Monastery. Dubrovnik exudes old-world charm with a location right on the Adriatic, fine religious buildings surrounded by heavily fortified walls, and a jumble of red-tiled roofs. The cobblestone streets of the old town, or Stari Grad, feature fountains, churches, palaces and museums – all built from the same light-coloured stone. There are no motor vehicles in the city but the streets come alive at night as locals and visitors stroll along Stradun, the main street. Following the walking tour, you have time to walk along the city walls: this is optional and costs approximately €35 for entrance (or is included in the Dubrovnik Card). Accommodation: Hotel Splendid (or similar)

7
Day 7: Free day to relax in Dubrovnik, or take an optional trip to Lokrum and explore the surrounding area

We have a free day today. Relax in the many eateries or chill on the beach. Alternatively, enjoy an optional visit to Lokrum Island; a 20-minute boat ride will take you from the Old Town port to this beautiful green island, home to a botanic garden full of exotic plants. Bring your swimming costume and a good book – after your stroll, you will definitely want to enjoy a swim in the Adriatic. Accommodation: Hotel Splendid (or similar)

8
Day 8: End Dubrovnik

The trip ends in Dubrovnik after breakfast. If you’d like a little more time to explore this fascinating city, speak to your sales representative about extending your stay.

Exodus Travel

It’s all about adventure That is what Exodus was founded upon 50 years ago, and what the company is still all about. Discovering countries, cultures, environments, cities, mountain ranges, deserts, coasts and jungles; exploring this amazing planet we all live on. At Exodus, we know what makes you tick when it comes to holidays. It’s a desire shared by so many others. A yearning to visit new places and come home with a real sense of what they’re all about. This means delving into local traditions, cultures, cuisine, lifestyles – anything that contributes to its unique identity. At the same time, we always remember that we are only guests. So we travel courteously and respectfully, in smaller groups to minimise our impact, to ensure that every Exodus holiday is a beneficial experience for everyone involved. This is a philosophy we take with us around the world, helping you reach some incredible destinations on 500 itineraries across over 90 separate countries. We also strive to provide as much flexibility and choice as we possibly can, making it simple for you to experience a very different holiday. Exodus started life on 4 February 1974 when two friends got together to provide an overland truck to travel to the Minaret of Jam, deep in the heart of the Hindu Kush, the most inaccessible of the world’s great monuments. See our history page for more details about how we began and how we have grown over the past 50 years. Never travelled with Exodus before? David Bacon   -  Traveled, August 2023

David and Maureen review This was an enjoyable holiday, despite several disappointing issues. Good: The places visited were splendid; our guide, Mila, was excellent; and the members of our group were great company. Bad: The hotel (3 nts) in Korcula was awful. The hotel in Dubrovnik (3 nts) also had problems. Most Inspirational Moment The places visited were splendid, for the scenery and sights of Dalmatia, which neither of us had seen before, are wonderful. Thoughts on Group Leader Our guide, Mila, worked very hard all week to make our holiday a success. Her commitment could not be faulted. Advice for Potential Travellers Make sure the hotels have been vetted properly by Exodus if you can. Suggestions As mentioned above, the hotel in Lumbada was particularly poor. The shower tray was rusty, the shower head could not be fixed to the wall, one of the windows could not be opened due to a broken catch, the TV remote was missing, the view from the window outside our door looked onto a washing line over debris on a shabby roof, and there was a long steep ramp over which cases had to be dragged to get to reception. One has to ask, "When was this hotel last assessed by Exodus?" The rooms in the student hotel in Dubrovnik were much better, although the absence of a handle over the deep bath/shower creates a risk of slipping and is a real problem for elderly occupants. The main problem we encountered here was closure of the restaurant on Saturday evening due to a large wedding reception. The restaurant was very good and we had all planned to dine there and have a drink together on our final evening. We only found out in the afternoon about the closure. The buffet offered instead was awful! Worse still, the band playing for the large wedding party – two floors below us – played loudly to 3.00am. (We had to get up at 6.00am!). A waitress told us that wedding parties are common in September and October. Exodus should investigate this. In short, the hotel experience spoiled our holiday. This was our second Exodus holiday: I doubt if there will be a third. Review Centre Reply from Exodus We are really grateful for David and Maureen’s review, and are glad that they enjoyed this trip and the sites they visited in Croatia, and that they were happy with their tour leader, Mila. We are, however, very sorry to hear that they were disappointed with the hotels the group stayed at on this tour. We have been using the hotel in Lumbarda, Korcula for several years and have previously found it to be a pleasant, comfortable family-run hotel with a lovely location, which has received positive feedback from our groups in the past. A member of the Exodus team joined David and Maureen’s departure and did note that the property is looking a little tired at present, though. In Dubrovnik, we were looking to try a different property from our usual hotel, which we felt was well situated closer to the old town, which is the main attraction of our stay in the city. We have taken the issues that David and Maureen mention on board, and can confirm that we are reviewing these hotels and considering using different properties for departures of this trip in the upcoming holiday season. We hope that this can show that we are taking David and Maureen’s concerns seriously and that we are proactive in sending our team members to regularly review our trips, in order to improve customer experience going forward. We very much hope that the rest of their holiday exceeded their expectations and that David and Maureen have some wonderful memories of Croatia overall. – The Exodus Product Team

Joanie Armstrong   -  Traveled, July 2022

Thank you Croatia – I’ve fallen in love with you! The first time I have visited Croatia and although others had told me what a beautiful country it far exceeded my expectations. Although Trogir, Lumbarda, Split and Dubrovnik are the main destinations, the islands were absolutely beautiful. So many different experiences were offered: Catamarans/Ferries, Vineyards, Olive Groves, GRK Winery, Olive & Liquor Tasting & Beaches amongst many. It felt like I had been there much longer than a week, as we visited so many different attractions.. I was concerned initially about being part of a group of 15, but what an amazing group they were! The Hotels were fine, improving as we progressed, with the Hotel Splendid in Dubrovnik, excelling my expectations. Ivan, our guide was absolutely superb and so informative in the history of his country. His patience, assistance and management of such a large group was off the scale. He also had a great sense of humour! Be ‘warned’ – lots of walking and steps!! My Fitbit states: 126,836 steps, 96 km and 236 floors, but it was so worth it!! I can’t recommend this trip highly enough Most Inspirational Moment Learning about the history of the country, from Ivan and the 2 local guides Thoughts on Group Leader Ivan, our guide was absolutely superb and so informative in the history of his country. His patience, assistance and management of such a large group was off the scale. He also had a great sense of humour and appeared to enjoy our company individually as well as the group as a whole. On some of the more tricky walks, he always made sure myself and others were OK and helped where needed. Advice for Potential Travellers The hotels do not have lifts, so be prepared for hiking your case up a few flights of stairs. Almost everywhere is accessed by countless steps and some of the terrain had large boulders to manoeuvre. The pavements in Dubrovnik are polished limestone and are slippery if you don't wear shoes/sandals with grippy soles. We were very luck with the weather and only had sun, but they would be lethal if raining. Suggestions Just GO!

Beautiful country - highly recommend visiting End July 2022 visit My first visit to Croatia and I wasn’t disappointed. The places visited and the coastline are beautiful, lovely blue clear waters and great weather. Split, Trogir and Dubrovnik are key highlights of the trip, however the small islands visited are also a much see. This trip doesn’t involve too much time travelling, so you get to experience what Croatia has to offer, the accommodation also gets better as the trip progresses, and the food is amazing. I was part of a group of 13, we all got on really well and had an amazing time. Ivan the guide was super efficient and very helpful, encouraging us to share his love of walking in the many beautiful places we visited. Highly recommend this trip as a Croatia taster, I will definitely be visiting the country again. Most Inspirational Moment I enjoyed visiting Dubrovnik and hearing about its history, walking the walls in Dubrovnik is a must. Thoughts on Group Leader Ivan the group leader was brilliant, really well organised and super helpful to all of us in the group. Arranging great places to eat and unique experiences along the way. Advice for Potential Travellers Pack some beach shoes as some of the beaches can be made up of sharp stones.

Justina Mclaughlin   -  Traveled, April 2022

Great trip with some breathtaking scenery I can highly recommend this trip. I arrived a day early on the Saturday and relaxed in Trogir which I would definitely endorse. It’s a lovely town and fun to explore and photograph. Plus it provides a more relaxing start to the tour. Every place we stayed on the itinerary was picturesque and each day was interesting and enjoyable. A good mix of history and scenery. The walks were also at a leisurely pace. Great places to eat, good company and comfortable accommodation. There’s a good mix of group activity and some personal time if you prefer some space from the group. We had a small group of 9 who were all like minded travellers and good fun. If you aren’t sure Croatia is for you please give it a go. This is a terrific week away and a beautiful country. I will definitely go back. Most Inspirational Moment Tough to choose just one but the day on Mljet island hiking to the Peak and the beautiful views was special particularly as I got to swim in the small lake at the end of the walk its stunning and very refreshing. Thoughts on Group Leader Vanja was great she had a knack for organising us and yet allowing us all space to do our own thing. She picked great restaurants and I actually looked forward to activities with the group. She’s one of the best tour leaders I’ve experienced with Exodus in a while and good fun to boot. We loved that she set up a WhatsApp group so we could send messages and pictures we had taken to each other. Vanja took several group photos and very generously gave us a copy at the end. She’s a credit to Exodus and Croatia !!! Advice for Potential Travellers Bring a pair of sandals or reef shoes for swimming in the sea or lakes as the water is crystal clear and so inviting but the ground is stony. Also have a good budget for eating out. The food in Croatia is delicious but it comes at a fair cost. The Exodus budget of £50 a day was about right I personally spent more! Suggestions I would have liked more time in Split. Dalmatian’s Palace takes time to explore and we only had 3 hours including lunch before we had to leave on the ferry.

Perfect Guidance Croatia presented beautiful scenery and numerous historic sites, with local guides to explain it all. The hotels were acceptable, the breakfasts nothing to shout about. Our random group of travelers meshed well. But the real praise goes to our tour guide, Vanya, who treated us as family, carefully explained each day’s itinerary and made sure that we could concentrate on the sites and not on the logistics. Most Inspirational Moment Walking the wall in Dubrovnik. Thoughts on Group Leader Fantastic. Engaged, responsible, informative and charming. Advice for Potential Travellers Take the local bus from the airport in Split to the hotel in Trogir. Inexpensive and easy to do. Pack for variable weather.

Awe inspiring You start this trip in Trogir, a 10 minute bus ride from Split airport, and no matter what time you arrive on the first day you are sure to recieve a warm welcome! The accommodation throughout the trip is excellent. Staying mainly in small family run hotels/ b&bs but a larger hotel chain in Lapad Bay in Dubrovnik. Vanja our tour leader was exceptional. She made she we were all clear on the itinerary and had us all organised for the transfers and group activities. There’s a great mix of organised fun, and time to explore or relax as desired. Everywhere you go in Croatia there seems to be another incredible view or piece of history . Throughly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to explore Croatia. My top tips: take cash, and quite a lot of it! No-where really takes card so we all had a dash to ATMs which charge around 5 euros a time. If you’re planning on walking up Montokuc ( which is optional) take sturdy walking shoes and poles will be helpful. Get the 3 day dubrovnik pass! Saves you a fortune in dubrovnik and it’ll save you a lot of time getting the bus ( included in the pass) between the hotel and the old town. Most Inspirational Moment Walling around the walls of Ston and Old town Dubrovnik, Lokrum Island, Korcula and Trogir Old towns at sunset Thoughts on Group Leader Literally the best! Cannot fault Vanja. She made us all feel safe and welcome and was very knowledgeable about the tour, croatia and all the locals. We love our Mama Duck! Pretty territory Slower paced trip. Lots of free time. Highlights of Dalmatia coast Most Inspirational Moment Walks along the sea Thoughts on Group Leader Very personable and involved. Went the extra step. Advice for Potential Travellers Compared to other Balkan countries, this is a pricey area. Prepare for crowds. I’d go off season, but then swimming in the sea would be challenging. Croatia is certainly ready for the tourist Suggestions B

Stunning coastline Stunning coastline and some beautiful old towns to wander round .Two lovely walks of about five or six miles along stoney paths but with options if you’re not feeling to energetic. Most Inspirational Moment Loved the buildings in Dubrovnik being a craftsman I really enjoyed some of the stone work Thoughts on Group Leader The group leader Sanja was fantastic ,very good at her job and always smiling .i would also like to single out the tour guide we had in Dubrovnik, Antia was excellent she was very informative but also entertaining and funny ,the two hour walk round flew by . Advice for Potential Travellers The food in Croatia is great but if you are vegetarian and don't eat fish you will struggle also the trip notes state there is filter water supplied ,this is not the case but we were assured the tap water was safe to drink so we all did with no ill effects .There are no kettles in hotel rooms in Croatia so if you want tea in bed bring a kettle and bring a good insect repellent for Korcula they really liked the taste of me. Suggestions No very early starts on this trip ,730 am was the earliest

ADD Dubrovnik & Dalmatian Coast This week long trip was a blend of fast paced scenic national parks and city tours. Both having lots of steps! With not a moment wasted you are surprised at what has been fitted in. Most Inspirational Moment The most inspirational moment for me as a someone who is not the fittest was completing the epic walk to see the fantastic panoramic views at Mljet National Park and then having a splash in the water after. Thoughts on Group Leader Our group leader was Dino who was always friendly, approachable and took the responsibility of leading a full group very well. The city tours we had were informative and I appreciated the Dubrovnik tour guide (Anthea?) always looking for places in the shade. Advice for Potential Travellers On this trip the notes were misleading - water is not provided. Start walking especially if your not used to walking especially fast paced, lots of steps, uphill walking in the heat. But the views, ice cream and swim make it worthwhile. Do bring swim wear. If you do walk the walls in Dubrovnik and you want to miss the cruise crowds go after 13.30 Suggestions The trip has an optional day trip to Mostar - please consider this. To anyone who is interested in this holiday I would say as an introduction to Croatia book it!

Great varied trip, sightseeing, steps, history, steps, marvellous scenery, nature and walks This was an interesting and varied trip with a wonderful variety of sights, history, walks and scenery. The pace was great, I like the 2/3 nights in a hotel format. There were an awful lot of steps involved, I don’t just mean walking I mean up and down sightseeing. Fine for most but maybe worth mentioning. Also the gravelly surface on the up hill part of the Mljet walk in heat made it a more than gentle walk! Trainers were perfectly fine, not walking boot terrain really, walking pole may have helped. The Korkula walk has a bit of a rocky scramble in one tiny section. The guide Dino, was wonderful, enthusiastic, helpful, compassionate and easy company. Great restaurant Marco Polo in Korcula and for a light lunch in Dubrovnik Oliva Pizzeria, lovely Greek salad and cold beer! Watch out for prices in Dubrovnik, we found a huge difference for coffees, lemon etc. Walk the Dubrovnik walls early, we were on them by 8.30, by the time we were off them about 2 hours later (we wandered and took photos and time) there was a steady stream climbing the entrance steps, and it was hot…early May! That’s it….great trip…go ahead and book it. Most Inspirational Moment The walls of Dubrovnik, and Ston...and Mjlet Thoughts on Group Leader He was great. Dino did everything possible to make the trip what we wanted it to be. His first trip too, our group will be forever emblazoned across his memory! Advice for Potential Travellers OK, see above re walking poles and trainers. Suggestions I would have liked a little more information during our walks about the history, flora and fauna...what were those abandoned enclosure walls on Korkula? What is this plant? That's being super picky, it was a great trip.

Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast - please use direct flights! The 8 hour layover at Zagreb was not a good start to this trip. I raised the short transfer time as a concern when I booked the trip and my worst fears were confirmed when we were greeted in Zagreb by a handling agent to be told this is where we would spend the next few hours with one food voucher, and eventually the offer of a free bus ride into the city for myself and 8 other stranded members of the group flight! Zagreb airport maybe brand new, but it offers just one snack type cafe landslide, and absolutely nothing airside! This is unacceptable, Exodus! Please use direct flights! On arrival in Trogir our tour leader did provide us with a very welcome snack. The first night hotel was woeful, no air conditioning, and very noisy. We transferred to Korcula the next day (the ferry was very uncomfortable, again no air conditioning, and no open deck space). The pension on Korcula was very noisy too, the breakfast was inadequate and sparse. The island and tiny city was beautiful. On to Dubrovnik, the minibus driver was to young and dangerous, we had to ask more than once that he DIDN’T use his mobile phone (and he was tailgating the car in front). The hotel was very good in Dubrovnik though I would like to challenge why I had to pay my bus fare for an included tour of the city? Our tour leader was excellent as well as the trainee tour leader who accompanied us. Most Inspirational Moment Dubrovnik, such a beautiful city, and so well restored following the war. Thoughts on Group Leader Our tour leader was first class, as was the trainee tour leader. The both worked tirelessly to satisfy some quite demanding guests. Advice for Potential Travellers Bokk direct flights to Split and from Dubrovnik!

Fun and interesting We selected the holiday because the weather was warm but not too hot in May and also the pictures looked interesting. We are really glad we went. The places have history, interest, fun and comfort. We felt really at home wandering the streets at night taking photos and enjoying the superb restaurants. We enjoyed the trip immensely and are considering returning to Croatia. Most Inspirational Moment I guess it was wandering through the night in Korcula. The crowds were disappearing the restaurants were smelling gorgeous. The waiters and locals were all chatty and friendly. The light was beautiful for some good night time photos. Then we happened upon a group of about 20 locals in tracksuits with beers practising their acapella singing. Great moment. Thoughts on Group Leader Sasa (pronounced sacha but cant type the accent) was fun and bubbly. She tried really hard to keep everyone happy. She moved between everyone in the group with skill and appreciated everyones needs. She organised meals for those that wanted them together, every night. We enjoyed her company. Advice for Potential Travellers The Pension in Korcula was about 15 minutes walk from the old town. The walk is easy and well lit. It was great moments to get into town for the night time. In Dubrovnik the "Dubrovnik Card" was great value to catch the very easy bus (bus-stop just outside our hotel) and to visit all the sights. I am not a Game of Thrones fan but got caught up in it with other fans visiting all those filming sights (thank you Lili). There is even the IRON THRONE made of swords on Lokrum Island. I sat on it and had my picture taken. I enjoyed that they filmed the latest Star wars movie there "the last Jedi" so got fascinated by that. There is a free map at the hotel that gives you all the filming sights. Get one if you like this stuff. Suggestions I think you should go. I reckon there is something for everyone in Dalmatia. But remember Cruise ships dock at Dubrovnik so can get busy. Consider visiting old town first thing or last thing to avoid the crowds.

Relaxed itinerary but plenty to do This was the most relaxed itinerary of any Exodus holiday I’ve been on. No early morning starts or long journeys, yet we managed to pack a lot in, I think due to this trip focusing on a limited geographic area. Three nights in each of two hotels. I enjoyed the variety of the trip. Split and Dubrovnik are ‘must sees’, but it was good to escape the cruise crowds with two visits to nature reserves on islands, and the smaller town of Trogir was lively and picturesque enough without being overwhelmingly busy. Most Inspirational Moment Mljet Island; walk to the peak of Montokuc. Beautiful island with its internal 'lakes' and pines. The climb was not difficult (256m) with steeper sections interspersed with level ones. Lovely views at the top. We did one leg of the journey by boat on the lake, stopping briefly on an island with a monastery. With the walk around the small and big lake + the climb approx. 8.5 miles - a good leg stretch without being overly demanding. Those who didn't want to climb had the option of remaining at the lakeside for an afternoon's swimming. Thoughts on Group Leader Ivan was a warm, friendly and organized leader. Advice for Potential Travellers The Dubrovnik card is not necessary. The city tour includes a couple of museum visits and we were then given a museum pass to use during the rest of our stay. The entry ticket for the (optional) walk around the walls also includes the fort, which can be visited that day or the next. Steps are definitely a feature of this coastline - even within the hotels. For anyone with knee problems, a stick or walking pole might be helpful. Mussels and oysters are specialties along the coast, but I found both overly salty. But the langoustines (scampi) at the More restaurant on Korcula were delicious. Because the coast is steep and rocky, there are few sand beaches and entry into the water for a swim can be hard on the feet/ slippy. Protective shoes are available for sale, or if you have some, bring them. Suggestions There is also a darker side to the history of this region. A map in Dubrovnik shows the damage caused by the war with Serbia etc. and the bright red of newer roof tiles stands out as you walk around the walls. The small Jewish synagogue and museum are worth a visit.

Fantastic holiday An excellent holiday, with beautiful scenery and good food. Most Inspirational Moment The walking tour of Dubrovnik, which included the Franciscan Monastery and the Rector's Palace, was excellent, I could have spent a lot longer learning about the history of the city. Thoughts on Group Leader Zeljko was an excellent leader. He was patient and knowledgable, and always had time to help members of the group. He was well-organised without being dictatorial, and his hard work was a major factor in making the holiday a success. Advice for Potential Travellers It's worth taking swimwear, Hotel Borik in Lumbarda on Korcula has a nice outdoor pool, and the Hotel Splendid in Dubrovnik has a beach on the Adriatic you can swim from.

Croatia and the Dalmatian Coast Wonderful country that should be on everybody’s list. Most Inspirational Moment The vistas. Thoughts on Group Leader Sasha was what a tour leader should be, proud of her country and wanting to share it with the group. One couldn't ask for better. Advice for Potential Travellers This trip was listed as leisurely but I feel it was a moderate especially for a couch potato.

Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast This was an excellent trip giving an overview of the Croatian coast, some of the islands, plus a quick look at important historical sights. Most Inspirational Moment The scenery, the sea and the islands plus the magnificence of Dubrovnik. Thoughts on Group Leader An intelligent likeable man, a good ambassador for Croatia! Advice for Potential Travellers Although not a lot of walking is required, comfortable shoes and beach shoes are essential. Suggestions I can thoroughly recommend this trip
