Experience Overview
The Norwegian fjords are rightly ranked as one of the natural wonders of the world: a contrast of snow-capped mountains, steep green hillsides and powerful waterfalls plunging into calm, clear fjordic waters. Purposefully avoiding the tourist hotspots, we stay at guesthouses within the fjords, providing easy access to some of the most picturesque walking trails in Norway. There’s also time to take a ferry through the sheer cliffs of Naerøyfjord (Narrow Fjord) and ride the Flåm railway, one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.

Itinerary
The adventure begins in Bergen. We have a welcome briefing at the hotel helmed by our tour leader, then head out for an orientation tour of Norway’s second city. Classic accommodation: Thon Orion Hotel (or similar)
After breakfast, we load up the minibus and begin our journey into the fjords. After 2hr 30min on the road, we reach the village of Gudvangen, where we hop on a ferry for a two-hour cruise through the wild sheer cliffs of Nærøyfjord. Arriving in the village of Flåm, we jump back in the minibus and continue to Nes Gard, our hideaway in the fjords for the next three nights. Classic accommodation: Nes Gard (or similar)
After a short transfer, we have a picturesque walk to the top of Molden (3,360ft/1,116m), where we can marvel at the profound chasm that is Sognefjord. Molden is often called the finest viewpoint in Sogn, with an amazing fjord view. With 1,970ft (600m) of elevation gain over 2.6mi (4.2km), the path is neither too steep nor strenuous. Halfway, we stop at the mountain farm of Svarthiller, where we get the first scenic views of the fjord. After, we visit Urnes Stave Church, the oldest stave church in Norway and a World Heritage site. Classic accommodation: Nes Gard (or similar)
After breakfast, we have an approximately 40-minute transfer to Jostedal National Park, the home of Jostedal glacier, a mammoth ice cap covering vast swathes of the park itself. It has nearly 30 glacial arms and today we visit two, starting with a walk to the Nigards Glacier where we get really close to the glacier. If you’d like to get even closer, you can join an optional guided walk on the glacier, using crampons and an ice axe to help you navigate. After, we drive to the Bergset Glacier, a mighty ice wall covering the upper part of Krundalen valley. Here, we have a short walk towards this glacier fall before we head back to Nes Gard. Classic accommodation: Nes Gard (or similar)
Hike into Mørkrisdalen today, one of the most scenic valleys in Norway. The walk starts in a narrow canyon dominated by a waterfall. As we continue, the canyon opens into a wide valley of moorland with wildflowers and traditional Norwegian summer cottages. Afterwards, we say goodbye to Nes Gard and transfer (approximately 1hr 30min) to our second guesthouse in the fjords, the Fjærland Fjordstove in Fjærland, which has a waterfront location and views of a glacier. Classic accommodation: Fjærland Fjordstove (or similar)
After a short morning transfer (approximately 20 minutes), we begin our walk by following a mostly flat gravel road, which offers panoramic views of the Barnakona peak. We arrive in Anestølen, a summer farm for goats, and enjoy our lunch while our tour leader tells us stories about how farming life has evolved here over the years. Afterwards (with a chance to take selfies with the goats), we continue on the same path until we reach Lake Tverrdalsvotni. The second part of the walk after Anestølen is a bit steeper and rocky in some sections. We return along the same path and continue our walk until we meet our transfer vehicle to take us back to the guesthouse. Classic accommodation: Fjærland Fjordstove (or similar)
We start the day with a short transfer to the start point of today’s hike. The route (which takes three to four hours) is one of the most popular in the area and when we reach the top of Besshovden viewpoint, we see why. From the summit, we enjoy majestic views of the Fjærlandsfjorden fjord and the Jostedalsbreen glacier. During summer, you may even see people securing hammocks here to spend the night under the stars. After, we have a short transfer to the Norwegian Glacier Museum, an angular slice of modern architecture backdropped by the ancient mountain peaks. Here, we can spend 1hr 30min enjoying a fascinating insight into the local landscape, the glaciers and how the climate crisis is impacting them. Please note: the order of this day may be reversed, depending on the weather. Classic accommodation: Fjærland Fjordstove (or similar)
After breakfast, we have a transfer (approximately two hours) to Flåm, where we ride the Flåm railway, one of the most beautiful and steep train journeys in the world. When we are back in Flåm, we continue to Bergen. We arrive around 4pm and then have time to explore the city. Classic accommodation: Thon Orion Hotel (or similar)
The adventure ends in Bergen after breakfast. You can begin your return journey home, but if you’d like a bit more time to explore the city, speak to your sales representative about extending your stay.

Amazing week walking in the very beautiful Norwegian Fjords As a first time hiker I was worried about what to expect from this trip but I shouldn’t have been. Spent a truly amazing week hiking varied and incredibly beautiful landscapes, interspersed with some breathtaking ferry trips. The pace was manageable (although I did start with a good base fitness) and there were often options to shorten or lengthen walks depending on capability but this was always optional. Nes Gard itself is a truly special place and perfect for an escape from real life. Waking up to the view of fjord everyday was such a contrast to living in the UK. The staff at Nes Gard are lovely and evenings were spent eating fab local food and then drinking and catching up in the bar with new found friends. This is the perfect holiday if you want a break from reality, a chance to unwind and to see some truly beautiful scenery as well as the chance to make some amazing friends. Most Inspirational Moment There are too many to really mention but the two stand out moments were getting to the top of the mountain on the first day and looking down over the Fjord. The sun was shining and the water was an incredible turquoise. Our group had laughed and bonded all the way up the mountain and there was a huge sense of achievement at the top. The second was on the last day at the waterfall. We'd all spent an amazing week with each other and there was a poignancy that it was our last day together. The waterfall was magnificent and the scenery breathtaking- it was my favourite hike and it was sad that it was the last. Thoughts on Group Leader Anders was a really fantastic group leader. He was knowledgable, kind, funny and you knew you were safe with him. He went above and beyond to spend time with the group, flex the schedule to take is to the bakers for cinnamon buns and overall look after us. He never pushed anyone to their limit and took time to understand the individual needs of the group. Advice for Potential Travellers You do have to have a base level of fitness for this trip to really enjoy it. Some of the ascents would be tricky in the rain and the terrain is full of rocks so you also need to be steady on your feet. That said in out group there were 4 people over 70 who managed just fine and had a great time!

Stunning Norway Hiking Nes Gard Farm, what “a little gem” of a place to stay for the week. The team, food and wine pairing option was truly amazing at this special place which was also surrounded by incredible scenery. The evening hike briefings for the following day took place either in the charming wine cellar or wonderfully converted old cattle shed with a drink or two to start the evening off before our delicious three course meal was served up each evening including locally sourced ingredients where possible and the option for wine pairing with each course. Being September we were particularly lucky with the sunny warm blue skied weather with no rainfall all week. Each day we set off on a very different hike led by our fantastic guide Anders. No one day was the same and the scenery truly breathtaking. We got an wonderful appreciation for all Norway has to offer in terms of views and what an incredible first visit to this beautiful country we had and we we would love to come back to the country in the future. Most Inspirational Moment The trip highlight for us was the glacier walk as we had not done one before, my partner only wished it was longer as it was such a fun experience to do. The photos on the Exodus website truly do not represent how stunning this country is with some extremely memorable hikes. Thoughts on Group Leader Our guide Anders was a very good guide. He held an evening briefing every night before dinner. He used the briefing to get feedback about the hike of the day and if there were any problems. He then covered the details for the next hike, providing information about departure time, distance, terrain, weather and hike time length. The briefing allowed guests to ask questions and get sound advice on clothing, equipment and food/water to bring and on the last day offered an shorter route alternative during the hike for some of the group. Advice for Potential Travellers We would recommend the glacier walk option in the itinerary if you have not done one before. There was a lot of boulders on some walks and so we would recommend bringing walking poles if you use them. Suggestions We were very lucky with the group, 14 of us from all corners of the world, a wide variation in ages with a good mix of solo and couples. Not forgetting our guide and wonderful owner of Nes Gard Farm, Anders. The group provided a-lot of laughter and fun along the way which proved extremely entertaining at times. We haven’t laughed as much as this in a very long time! Great first trip back with Exodus after Covid. The connection flight between Uk - Amsterdam and Norway outward and return was a little too tight for comfort and some running and panic did take place otherwise a very memorable holiday! Our baggage got lost coming home but hopefully still at Amsterdam and will be returned home to us very soon which was also not great but at least we got home! Thank you from Han and Lucy.

Hiking the Fjords A level 3 moderate rating but the owner of NES Gard, Anders, really isn’t tolerant of those clients who are slower than his expectations. To my mind, all clients pay the same so we are all entitled to enjoy the experience and not be made to feel we are not up to the trip. The trip is open to anyone so if Andrrs only wants qualified mountain hikers, this should be made clear at the point of booking or Exodus should appoint a guide who can deal with all abilities Most Inspirational Moment I enjoyed the optional glacier walk - we had a very charming and supportive Nepalese guide. Really outstanding. It was a great experience to get up close with glacier ice and experience the beautiful blue colour. The first day on the Jostedalsbreen National Park was stunning - we were walking on snow in August! Thoughts on Group Leader Anders is the owner of NES Gard as well as the guide for most days. He certainly runs the trip along his own principles rather than as you would expect an Exodus trip to pan out. He is quite intolerant of slower walkers to the point of making them sit out or turn back unsupervised on a walk as the pace is holding back the elite walkers. In my opinion if you want to run a group for mountaineers, you need to specify at the point of booking and only accept bookings from qualified people. I paid 3k as did others so we were entitled to full participation of the walks on offer. There was a walk in the Mykkersdal valley which is very dark and gets no sunlight and in addition on this day it had rained all night and all day so the rocks were very slippery and there were lots of boggy patches. So at lunch in a clearing, Anders picked people out to turn back as they could not keep pace. I wAnted to continue but was told to turn back. There were 4 ladies and one very concerned man who was also a doctor, accompanied our group. The terrain was very tricky. Unfortunately we seemed to take a wrong path as the markings were not obvious and we got some way before realising this route was not correct. We carried on a bit further as we thought it might come out at the carpark but then decided to turn back. Meanwhile the elite group had got back to the bus to find we had not returned so Anders set out to find us. There was no phone signal in the valley so our messages had not been received and if anyone had had an accident, we had no way of contacting anyone. Also Anders did not carry a satellite phone for emergencies. This really was not an acceptable regard to the health and safety of the clients and Anders should not have split up the group. Usually Exodus guides stop frequently for catching up and normally take the opportunity to tell clients something about the history or geography of the area but Anders didn’t seem to have any such information to share. I did not learn anything about the history or mythology of Norway from Anders or the geology Advice for Potential Travellers Don’t go on the trip unless you are A frequent hill or mountain Walker or walk on uneven terrain at a fast pace. You might come home feeling you failed to keep up. The terrain really is very uneven and you might have to scramble over rocks on your front occasionally . That said, the scenery is stunning! Suggestions NES Gard is a beautiful location but is situated quite a way from any shops or other villages. You cannot buy wine in a supermarket but can purchase beer or cider there. You will have to pay NES Gard drinks prices of £10 - £12 for a small glass of wine or a beer or £13 for a G&T with your evening meal.

A Stunning Country The scenery exceeded our expectations and walking among it seemed a real privilege. Most Inspirational Moment There were several: Bergen, the scenery on journeys by mini-bus and ferry, Nes Gard farm guesthouse and the view from our room, the overall views of mountains, waterfalls and glaciers. Thoughts on Group Leader Lukas's passion for his country shone out and enthused us at the same time. He adjusted the programme sensibly to cope with the variable weather we experienced. Advice for Potential Travellers We had sun and rain, so be prepared. It was also a little wetter underfoot than some other trips we've been on. Definitely not sandal country. Suggestions Stunning scenery at every turn.

Hot week in the Fjords Our trip coincided with a rare heatwave in Norway. This was great for evening swims in the Fjord with amazing views and freshing water! The guesthouse is very lovely with nice evening meals. If you are a keen walker you may be disappointed on the amount of hiking on this trip – there are only two days when you do full day walks, the other days are half day hikes and other activities or travelling. The range of scenery within an hour of the guesthouse is fantastic – from glaciers to high snow capped mountains and the more mellow fjords and waterfalls. Our leader Lucas was great but we didn’t have very good briefings either at the beginning of the week or on the next day’s activities. Sometimes, it was unclear what was happening until we were actually doing it.. Most Inspirational Moment Swimming in the fjords. Thoughts on Group Leader Lucas was great - very friendly and keen for everyone to have a good time. Advice for Potential Travellers Take a lunch box and water bottle if you are keen to cut down on your plastic use. It was rather disappointing that despite Exodus's pledges on reducing plastic, one of the very first things that happened on this trip was everyone being given plastic bags and bottles to make day 1 lunch. Ask for a detailed briefing at the beginning of the week. Take your swimming gear - this is not on the trip notes. The guest house has a small pier with sun lounges and steps for swimming if you are lucky with the weather.

Walking the fjords A stunningly beautiful adventure exploring Norway. Such a great variety of treks and landscapes led by an excellent, v natural guide who is v passionate about his country. If you love trekking and the outdoors, then Norway should be on your bucket list! Most Inspirational Moment Every day was different offering a wide variety of treks on different terrains, seeing an amazing variety of landscapes - you really get a real taste of what Norway has to offer trekkers. We scrambled over rocks to get quite close to the mouth of a glacier, peaked Mt Molden above the clouds, walked through the dreamy green valley (still a few ups - not all flat!) and even trekked through a bit of snow in the mountains. We also had a few ferry rides too so we got to experience the fjords close up (a couple of us even took a dip in the 'refreshing' fjord back at the guest house). A well paced tour - not too quick, not too slow and great bunch of travellers to share this experience with. Thoughts on Group Leader Einar was a brilliant and v natural leader. He knew the area extremely well and took great care of the group, his passion for his country always shining through. Led an excellent pace that suited everybody and encouraged a v supportive environment where everyone helped each other. Advice for Potential Travellers Ensure your fitness level is suitable for this grade of holiday (Exodus training guides are a great starting point). You are trekking every day with many upward slopes (you get the great views tho!). There are options given for some days e.g. you don't have to scramble over all the rocks at the glacier if you don't want to etc. The pace of the days are good and it's a supportive walking environment (not all of it is up slopes). Take waterproof boots - we walked over boggy ground and through streams - and ankle support is advised as you will walk on quite a lot of uneven ground. But above all - enjoy every moment! It's a spectacular place to trek in and you cram a lot in the five days of trekking. Walking poles are useful too for those not blessed with a natural sense of balance! Suggestions The varied weather added to the amazing experience from the moodiness of the cloudy days to the glorious colours seen on the bright sunny ones. We were lucky and didn't have much rain.Take layers as you get warm when trekking so we were in t-shirts and you will need something warm up the top of mountains when you stop for lunch.

A fabulous week with fabulous weather We were picked up from the airport with no problem and taken to a very nice hotel (Thon Orion) in Bergen. The hotel puts on a free evening buffet type dinner which was perfectly adequate for us. The rooms were good, clean and comfy. Asbjorn owns the farm in Nes where we stayed, and he drove us there, quite a long journey but with plenty of stops. He was happy to tell us all about his country and Nes Gard. The accommodation was lovely, just across the road from the Fjord. My bed was amazingly comfortable, everywhere was spotless. Food was delicious. The walks were varied, not difficult if you’re used to hiking. Some might find some of the walks a little challenging, as the terrain was often rocky, and steep in places. Some of the walks were there and back the same way which probably couldn’t be helped, but it made me feel a little cheated. Most Inspirational Moment I would say that it had to be our walk on the Glacier as it was something I'd never done before, I didn't know what to expect. We were given crampons and ice picks and roped together in groups of about 12, an experienced guide at the front, and off we went up the Glacier after being told how to walk in crampons of course. The blue of the Glacier was stunning, and looking down into crevices was beautiful. This is an optional extra of the holiday but well worth doing. Quite pricey at nearly £60. Thoughts on Group Leader Asbjorn took us on our 1st walk up to Molden Peak. He was great, very informative and knowledgeable . The rest of the week our guide was Inar who was also fantastic. He kept us safe, he knew what we were capable of and he had lots of stories to tell us which kept us amused. He's only a young lad but certainly knew what he was doing, he was a delight. Advice for Potential Travellers Most people know that Norway is expensive, but it still comes as quite a shock. If you like a beer to cool you down after a day out walking, take plenty of money. Half litre of lager is about £7.50 and a bottle of wine about £30. Also it might be a good idea to take mosquito spray, we did encounter a few during the week. Suggestions I'm a Vegan, and my evening meals were fabulous.

'Hiking in Norway', not 'Walking the Fjords' A great week of hiking in a beautiful location with good accommodation and lovely food – and with great guides. This is a full program with little ‘down time’. Most Inspirational Moment The iconic views from the Molden peak with its stunning views of Sognefjord. Thoughts on Group Leader Asbjorn is an an exceptional guide and also a very nice man with so much knowledge and experience. Sadly he is looking to retire which will be a shame to miss all of those stories, but he is currently training his replacement Lucas, who I think will make also make a great host/guide. We found them both very helpful & approachable as well as being very knowledgeable of their environment and locality. An real asset to this trip. Advice for Potential Travellers Do not under-estimate this trip. This is a hiking trip, not walking. Many of the hikes are quite a bit longer than the notes imply and you will be expected to scramble a little as well as doing a lot of walking on very uneven ground. This is all fine if you're used to this & expecting it, but be warned. Suggestions Stay an extra night in Bergen, there is so much to see & do there and the itinerary does not give anywhere near enough time there.

A Trip for the Active Nes Gard Farm is a fantastic place. The meals were fresh, healthy, and delicious. Each day we traveled to a new location for hiking. The people in my tour group were great – 8 women and 3 couples. Everyone was game for adventure and being active. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and very personable. Most Inspirational Moment The incredible landscape on every hike. It's too difficult to pick out one outstanding moment because each day presented a new aspect of Norway. Thoughts on Group Leader Group leaders were professional and attentive to individual needs. Advice for Potential Travellers Be prepared to hike on uneven terrain and smooth rock surfaces. Trails are steep and often slick. I was cardio fit but I did my conditioning on groomed trails. The glacier walk is very challenging. Gaitors are highly recommended to pants clean. Suggestions Do not go on the glacier walk if it's been raining.

Lovely time! I had a lovely time in Norway. During the day we were kept busy with hikes in the mountains surrounding the Norwegian fjords – good exercise and beautiful views. Our guest house was charming – was surprised by how nice it was – and the staff was super friendly. We even saw quite a few UNESCO world heritage sites. Overall I was positively surprised with Norway and glad i chose this trip. Great company too! Most Inspirational Moment The beautiful views took me away from my everyday worries and who would have thought going onto the glacier would be so much more fun than just looking at it from up close! Thoughts on Group Leader I loved Einar - he is young and super humble but he really tried hard to take care of us. Lovely guy Advice for Potential Travellers Fitness levels - moderate for one person is challenging for another especially when there are time limits for certain hikes.

Norway at its best An action packed week of walking in an area of stunning scenery. Walks full of interest and every day was different terrain so all walks very different all superbly guided. Even the journey from Bergen to our accommodation was beautiful both ways including ferry crossings of stunning fjords Nes Gard was a wonderful place to stay. So friendly, lovely accommodation & superb food. Most Inspirational Moment A beautiful long walk starting in one valley and walking over to another valley with views of multiple glaciers & peaks with an almost 360 degree view. Thoughts on Group Leader Einer was an excellent guide, full of information about the area & his country. He took a lot of care to make sure the group able to walk at their own pace while still accommodating the slower walkers. And he carried coffee for all of usto the top of each route every day !! What luxury! Advice for Potential Travellers Make sure you are fit enough to walk all day, with usually more than half the walk of course being up hill. Suggestions Highly recommend this holiday as a good way to visit a beautiful area of Norway. You could not walk in a more stunning area. Food & drink is expensive in Norway but as all our food was included even the meals we thought we were going to have to provide so that meant plenty left to spend on beer!

Walking the Fjords - Norway An excellent holiday! The walking was wonderful, the scenery stunning, food fantastic, and the guide generous, (I like alliteration!). We stayed at Ned Guard where our room was very comfortable and the staff brilliant. Our guide, Asbjorn Manum, was a wonderful host who shared his love of hiking with the group. A gentleman of, let’s say, more mature years, but still walked up the steepest slopes like a youngster. Most Inspirational Moment We took the optional trip to walk on a glacier. Once geared up with crampons, ice axe, harness and rope, we were taken on a stunning two hour walk on the glacier including descending through an ice cave. Our guide for the trip was a young Nepalese man who told me he had climbed Everest 9 times - can't accuse him of lacking mountaineering experience! Thoughts on Group Leader Asbjorn was an excellent host and guide. Having climbed up the mountain, he would produce tea and coffee that he had carried up with him, and small mats for everyone to sit on. He also loved to tell us stories about the area and its history. A wonderful man. I hope I'm as fit as he is when I reach his current age! Advice for Potential Travellers The weather can be variable, so make sure you pack both tee shirts and shorts, and something much warmer. Gloves and hats are essential for some of the walks. On our last day we walked at around 1,400m elevation and the temperature was only just about freezing with a brisk wind blowing.Z Suggestions This is our third Exodus holiday and yet again we found we were travelling with a wonderful and diverse group of people.

Walking in Norway A brilliant holiday Most Inspirational Moment Climbing to the top of the waterfall in the spray and on hands and knees at times!!! But we all did it ( with ages up to 81). Advice for Potential Travellers All weather gear Suggestions I hope to see more of Norway. The hotel and food were delightful.

Walking the Fjords The superb walking with plenty of spectacular and varied landscapes along the way would by itself make for great trip, but what makes it special is staying at the guest house at Nes Farm. The accommodation is comfortable, the location is wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Asbjorn & Mari, are the perfect hosts and together with their staff, work hard to keep their guests happy. They also have a good chef, so the standard of the breakfasts and dinners is excellent. As a cautionary note, the ‘wow’ factor on this trip may depend on the weather. I’m not sure if we were particularly lucky, as we did have rain on some days, but generally it was only for a short duration and nothing that detracted from the enjoyment of any of the walks. There again, they had just experienced two months without much rain before we arrived, so you never can tell. Most Inspirational Moment I enjoyed the Molden peak walk the best with its stunning views of the Sognefjord, closely followed by the Vigdal to Navarsete walk in Breheimen National park with its glacial landscapes and changing scenery. Meeting the Norwegians and listening to their stories. Beyond that, just enjoying the serenity of Nes Farm! Taking an early morning swim in the fjord (very cold but just about bearable for a short dip), then relaxing with a coffee in the living room before breakfast. Enjoying a glass of wine or a beer, at the end of a satisfying days' walking or after dinner, while taking in the lovely views over the Lustrafjord. I'm sorry, but I could drone on about this endlessly... Thoughts on Group Leader Asbjorn was the guide for the duration of our trip. As well as being an exceptional guide, he's also a lovely man and it was a great pleasure to have met both him and Mari. As you might expect from a former teacher, he was knowledgeable on all matters relating to the trip and good at imparting it with a sense of dry Norwegian humour. The itinerary was tailored to the weather conditions on the day rather than following the order in the trip notes, although to be honest, I wouldn't have put it past him to have fixed the weather for us as well. Advice for Potential Travellers Although the trip is correctly graded as moderate, it does require a reasonable level of fitness to cope with the uphill sections, especially if it gets warm, so read the trip notes and be honest about your own abilities. Be prepared for sun, warm, cold and wet weather. It can get cool in the evenings so a fleece is a good idea, but I don't think that thermals or gaiters are required. Poles can be useful when going over streams or very brief sections on snow, but if you don't normally use them then they are not necessary. I would definitely take eye shields as it hardly get dark at all during the evening. Waterproof boots are are must for crossing very wet ground, snow and streams. If you want to take energy food on the walks, then ask Asbjorn if you can stop at a local supermarket to stock up rather than take it with you. A word on tipping, which does appear to becoming more commonplace in Norway in restaurants and so on. Our group didn't tip Asbjorn as he and Mari own Nes Farm; however, we did take a collection for the staff - this was not expected but was very much appreciated by them. Suggestions If you have the time, I would strongly recommend travelling in Norway either before or after the trip. Getting around by ferry and train is a lot of fun and it is easy to book NSB rail tickets via the internet or mobile app. The group trip ends at Bergen Airport, so one admittedly backtracking option is to make you way from Bergen by train to Voss and then bus to Guvangen. From Voss & Gudvangen there is a variety of activities that you can do, including kayaking on the Naeroyfjord. From Guvangen you can catch a very scenic ferry ride along the Naeroyfjord and Aurlandsfjorden to Flam. From Flan you can travel on the famous Flamsbana railway to Myrdal then onto Oslo. Others on our trip, flew into Oslo first then made their way to Bergen by train. It is worth spending a few days in Bergen and the fjord cruise to Rosendal make for a very nice day trip.

Walking the Fjords This is a trip with some cultural content for walkers who are capable of hiking up hills and walking for between 4-6 hours a day. The scenery is stunning. Most Inspirational Moment This is a difficult question. I think probably walking across a high plateau, and seeing snow capped mountains in the distance. Thoughts on Group Leader The group leader was excellent. He had a deep love of his home; an encyclopaedic local knowledge; and knew much of his country's history as well. He adjusted the programme according to the weather, and other factors. Advice for Potential Travellers Do this holiday if you are something of a hiker who can climb hills on rocky paths. Do not do this holiday if you only walk in towns or in parks, and do not have a decent degree of fitness. Suggestions I honestly cannot remember enjoying a holiday more, and the weather was good.

WALKING THE FJORDS This was a wonderful trip that I can highly recommend. Beautiful country to visit, great walks, lovely accommodation with superb food, brilliant leader. Most Inspirational Moment Each day was different and difficult to choose any particular highlight. The optional glacier walk was well worth doing and very good value; pancakes in a mountain hut at 2,000 feet, spectacular waterfalls alongside the footpaths...... The journey to the centre involved a 2 hour ferry so you even experience the feel of a fjord cruise. Thoughts on Group Leader THe group leader was really good. He worked hard as the guest house host, guided us on spectacular walks after driving us up steep winding roads, talked about Norwegian culture and ensured we were all sent safely on our way back home. His staff were really great, and he and his wife ensured a very pleasant stay. Advice for Potential Travellers You will have plenty of photo-opportunities, so don't forget your camera! Take sufficient money for a meal in Bergen and any going home gifts, and for drinks with your evening meal. Not much else to pay for, other than the optional glacier trip (and you can pay by card anyway). Suggestions Enjoy it and relax. The walks are at a relaxed pace and not too demanding, but can be modified according to the group abilities. This has whetted my appetite to return to Norway.

WALKING THE FJORDS Superb trip. Fantastic walking, each day very different scenery. Great accomodation, with excellent food. Very friendly hosts, felt like you were staying in a private house, rather than a hotel. Most Inspirational Moment The views, especially up in the mountains, looking across at the snow covered peaks and the glaciers. Stunning. Thoughts on Group Leader Asbjorn, trip leader an absolute star. Everything well planned and organised. Really friendly and passionate about the area.
